Enrollment at the Sebastopol Independent Charter School

Enrollment at our school is by lottery, in accordance with California Education Code.

Each year we offer a number of opportunities to learn more about our school community and about Waldorf education. Usually, these are held in January and February for enrollment the following school year. Enrollment request forms are given out at these events and are due mid-March of each year. Enrollment is sometimes available at other times during the year, as space is available.

The first step is to contact the school office and speak with the Enrollment Coordinator. It is very important that families understand the Waldorf curriculum and the program that our school offers. We encourage you to attend at least one of our enrollment events as they will provide you with an overview of Waldorf education and assist you in deciding whether it is the right school for your child.

The school holds a lottery after the March 16th deadline and will notify families of the results promptly by mail. The lottery is held as required by law and according to our school’s charter, with preference given in the following order: current students, siblings, children of school staff members, children who live in the Sebastopol Union School District, then all other students residing in California.

An applicant will stay on the waiting list for the year for which you applied, after which time you need to update your application if you are still interested in having your child at our school.
